Jen
With 18 years of marriage, four children, and two dogs, Jen knows a thing or two about the chaos and joy that family life brings. Her personal and professional experiences have shaped her deep passion for maternal mental health, particularly in supporting mothers through the diverse challenges of motherhood.
Her journey toward becoming a therapist began at a young age. When she was 13, she watched a Lifetime movie about a girl who was adopted and resented her adoptive parents. Curious about why the girl felt that way, she decided to pursue a career working with children. This led her to Towson University, where she majored in Psychology. It was during a family systems class in her junior year that everything clicked for her. She went on to earn her Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from Northwestern University.
In her early career, she worked at the Domestic Violence Center in Howard County, focusing on children. But when she became a mother herself, she transitioned her focus to working with parents, realizing that her own experiences as a mother gave her a unique perspective on the struggles of motherhood.
Jen specializes in maternal mental health, working with mothers at every stage of their journey. Whether supporting women facing infertility, navigating the day-to-day stresses of parenting, or helping them process feelings of perceived failure, she is deeply committed to holding space for her clients. She champions their lives, advocating for them with both compassion and practical resources that empower them to overcome challenges.
Her approach is grounded in education and a strong belief in the power of connection. By providing clients with both emotional support and tangible tools, she helps them feel understood and equipped to handle their struggles, no matter how big or small.
Jen's passion for supporting mothers is deeply personal. After struggling with her own fertility challenges, she became committed to destigmatizing women’s struggles with motherhood. She understands firsthand how difficult it can be to feel alone or misunderstood during this journey. Through her work, she aims to normalize these experiences and provide mothers with the support they need to thrive.
Her professional background in family dynamics, combined with her own motherhood experiences, fuels her desire to help mothers navigate the complex and often overwhelming aspects of raising children. She works with clients across the spectrum of motherhood—from infertility to the challenges of day-to-day parenting—offering guidance, understanding, and a listening ear.
Ultimately, Jen's "why" is simple: to help mothers feel supported and empowered in their journey. Whether it's working through fertility struggles, adjusting to the demands of motherhood, or healing from past emotional wounds, she is dedicated to helping women embrace their strength and find balance in their lives. With her, you’ll find a therapist who listens, advocates, and provides the tools necessary for deep, lasting change.
