Angela

Angela has always had a strong desire to help others. Her passion for supporting people began at a young age when she worked as a candy striper at the hospital. Initially, she pursued a path toward becoming a doctor, but during her college years, she felt a deep calling to shift her focus and change her major to psychology. This decision led her to become a counselor, a role that would allow her to make a more personal, meaningful impact on others’ lives.

After spending 15 years raising her children and working for the government, Angela felt another pull to return to the mental health field. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she knew it was time to make a change and pursue her true passion again. That’s when the universe led her to Heather and SilverLeaf Counseling. From the moment she joined the team, Angela felt that spark reignited. She’s proud of her clients and their dedication to finding solutions and improving their mental health.

One of her favorite parts of her work is collaborating with the SilverLeaf team, where she enjoys learning from her colleagues and sharing insights as they all grow together professionally. Her specialty is working with children, particularly through SilverLeaf Kids, a program that helps young clients navigate their emotions, behaviors, and developmental challenges. This passion was born out of her own experiences growing up, particularly watching her brother struggle with undiagnosed learning disabilities. Angela’s empathy for children facing similar struggles drives her to help them find understanding, healing, and solutions.

In addition to her work with children, Angela has broadened her expertise to assist BIPOC mothers and families through grief, trauma, and family dynamics. She finds great fulfillment in supporting these families, helping them process difficult emotions and build stronger, healthier relationships.

Angela has been married for 26 years and is the mother of three children. She is also a proud dog lover, with three dogs who keep her busy. All three of her children were heavily involved in sports throughout their school years, so much of her personal time was spent following them around to their various activities. Now, as she and her husband approach the empty-nester phase, Angela is looking forward to new hobbies—gardening, traveling, and getting back into photography.

Angela’s journey has come full circle, from her early days as a candy striper to finding her calling in the mental health field and working with families to help them heal and thrive. She’s excited for the future and grateful to be part of the SilverLeaf team, where she continues to make a meaningful impact.
